Pharmacy First

Pharmacy First is a service for patients over the age of 1 year old, to be assessed, diagnosed and treated by a pharmacist for a variety of conditions. 

When appropriate these pharmacists are able to prescribe antibiotics and other prescription medications.

The practice may refer you to a local pharmacy based on your form submission, or you can go directly to a pharmacy for advice and guidance on any of the following conditions:

  • Ear problems and pain
  • Urinary tract infections (UTI) (Women aged 16-64)
  • Impetigo
  • Infected insect bites
  • Acute sore throat (Patients aged 5+)
  • Acute sinusitis (Patients aged 12+ years)
  • Shingles (Patients aged 18+ years)
  • Bites and stings
  • Colds and congestion
  • Eye problems (e.g. conjunctivitis) or dry eyes
  • Constipation or Diarrhoea
  • Hay fever
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Vaginal thrush
  • Sprains and strains
  • Skin disorders (e.g. athletes foot, rash, acne etc)
  • Cold sores, mouth ulcers and oral thrush
