In November 2023, we took an interest in an unmet need within our mid-life female patient cohort. To investigate further we invited all female patients between the ages of 40 to 60 to take part in a Women’s Health Survey to help us understand how to better serve our community.
Whilst many patients appreciated the quality of the support, there was a concern regarding the availability of services. There was also a desire that more women could benefit from access to this specialist support.
Of those surveyed, over 80% of responses predicted that they would need help with menopause management, 79% anticipated use of cancer screening services and 46.5% expected to need mental health support. A large majority of respondents expressed a preference for a female clinician in this area with specialist knowledge in subjects such as Menopause, Perimenopause, Continence and HRT.
In light of the survey results, we are delighted to announce that we have welcomed a new Clinical Nurse Practitioner, Mandy Wilson, to join Ruth, Zoe and Sarah as part of our growing Women’s Health Team here at Fort House Surgery.
Mandy has been working in the NHS since 1994 and, after qualifying as a nurse in 2000, moved into Primary Care where she has stayed ever since. In 2022, she qualified as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Mandy is passionate about Women’s Health and has a specialist interest in the menopause and care during this time.
She will be working at the practice 3 days a week. To request an appointment, please use our online booking form: Request an appointment
