Men’s Health Week: Update on Men’s Health Clinics

This week is Men’s Health Week and we wanted to share an update on our Men’s Health clinics.

At our last Men’s Health walk-in, over 200 men came through the door – up from 38 at our previous clinic. It’s fantastic to see so many of our male patients being proactive about their health.

Early detection is key and these clinics have already made a real difference. Through routine checks we’ve picked up high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, raised PSA levels, palpitations, prostatitis, atrial fibrillation – and several new cases of prostate cancer.

The clinics have also given us the opportunity to discuss weight, lifestyle, mental and general physical health with a significant number of attendees – with signposting to support where needed, including
Healthy Surrey and to additional resources on our Wellbeing Wall.

While we work out how best to run future clinics to meet the demand, men between the ages of 40-75 (who have not had a Health Check in the previous 5 years) can book a Health Check appointment directly at the surgery.
